Coach’s Corner: A Bit of Inspiration
“Somewhere behind the athlete you’ve become and the hours of practice and the coaches who have pushed you is a little girl who fell in love with the game and never looked back…play for her.”
Those first few pedal strokes, when you knew you were hooked. The teammates you mentored and helped you along. The first time you road a velodrome….whatever it was….remember that feeling, remember the cool air, the freedom, the desire to become better than you were yesterday….
And so…today I challenge you, to remember why you started, where you’ve been, where you are headed, and what is your dream. These questions keep you grounded, keep you centered, and keep you focused. Do what you can each day, and be content with it. Wake up the next morning, and do it all over again. But never lose sight of that little girl (or boy), who fell in love with the game, and never looked back.
